LCM of 4, 10 and 20 is 20, multiplying both sides by 20 we have x × $(2 × 5 + 13 × 2 + 12)$ = 48 × 20, which is x × $(10 + 26 + 12)$ = 48 × 20, solving for x we get x = 20, so 25p coins = 20 × 2 = 40.


Question 5

A 400 liter mixture of milk and water contains 86% milk. How many more liters of water should be added so that the proportions of milk and water become equal?

The volume of milk will remain same at ${86 × 400}/100$ = 344 liters. The amount of water at present is 400 - 344 = 56 liters. We need to make the volume of water equal to that of the milk. So we have to add 344 - 56 = 288 liters of water.
