Question 1
SSC-CGL 2020 Mar 5 Shift 1

A man buys an article for Rs. 576 after getting 20% discount. He spends an additional Rs. 224 on it and sells it at 24% profit calculated on MRP. Find his actual profit?

Solution in detail

Let MRP=x\displaystyle MRP = x

Buys at: x20% of x=576\displaystyle x - 20\%\text{ of } x = 576

x=576×10080=720\displaystyle \therefore x = 576 \times \frac{100}{80} = 720

He sells at a profit of 24% on MRP

\displaystyle \therefore SP = 720×124100=892.80\displaystyle 720 \times \frac{124}{100} = 892.80

Overall CP is 576+224=800\displaystyle 576 + 224 = 800

\displaystyle \therefore Profit = SP - CP =892.80800\displaystyle = 892.80 - 800

=92.80 Rs. Ans\displaystyle = 92.80 \text{ Rs. }\underline{Ans}
