Question 19
SSC-CGL 2020 Mar 3 Shift 2
What is the surface area of a hemisphere of radius 7cm?
Solution in Brief
Formula for total surface area of a hemisphere is 3πR². Use R = 7, and π = 22/7, to get 3 x (22/7) x 7² = 462 sq. cm answer.
Explanation
A full sphere has a curved surface of 4πR². When it becomes a hemisphere, the curved surface is 2πR². Add to this the visible circle of πR² to get total surface area of 3πR².
