Question 4
SSC-CGL 2020 Mar 4 Shift 2

The marked price of an article is Rs 740. The shopkeeper sells the article at Rs 566.10 by giving two successive discounts of 15% and x% respectively. Find the value of x.

Solution in Detail

First discount $\displaystyle 15\% \text{ of } 740 = 111$

Price became $\displaystyle 740 - 111 = 629$

Final SP (given) = $\displaystyle 566.10$

$\displaystyle \therefore $ discount = $\displaystyle 629 - 566.10 = 62.9$

$\displaystyle \therefore \%-\text{discount} = \frac{62.9}{629}\times 100$

$\displaystyle = 10\%\:\underline{Ans}$
