Question 21
SSC-CGL 2020 Mar 3 Shift 2

A person gains 5% by selling 6 articles for a total price of Rs. 63000. For how much should he sell 8 articles so as to make a profit of 15%?

Solution in Detail

SP of 6 articles given $\displaystyle = 63000$

SP of 1 article = $\displaystyle \frac{63000}{6} = 10500$

Given profit earned $\displaystyle = 5\%$

$\displaystyle \therefore CP = \bigg(\frac{100}{105} \times 10500\bigg)$

$\displaystyle \therefore CP = 10000$

SP for a gain of $\displaystyle 15\%$ per article:

$\displaystyle = \frac{115}{100} \times 10000 = 11500$

SP for $\displaystyle 8$ articles:

$\displaystyle = 8 \times 11500 = 92000\text{ Rs. }\underline{Ans}$
