Question 21
SSC-CGL 2020 Mar 3 Shift 2

A person gains 5% by selling 6 articles for a total price of Rs. 63000. For how much should he sell 8 articles so as to make a profit of 15%?

Solution in Detail

SP of 6 articles given =63000\displaystyle = 63000

SP of 1 article = 630006=10500\displaystyle \frac{63000}{6} = 10500

Given profit earned =5%\displaystyle = 5\%

CP=(100105×10500)\displaystyle \therefore CP = \bigg(\frac{100}{105} \times 10500\bigg)

CP=10000\displaystyle \therefore CP = 10000

SP for a gain of 15%\displaystyle 15\% per article:

=115100×10000=11500\displaystyle = \frac{115}{100} \times 10000 = 11500

SP for 8\displaystyle 8 articles:

=8×11500=92000 Rs. Ans\displaystyle = 8 \times 11500 = 92000\text{ Rs. }\underline{Ans}
